Colorado Controls has been fortunate to be able to complete multiple schools for the Weld County School District in Greeley, Colorado in the past few years, starting in May of 2020 and continuing on in 2023.

Two of those schools were brand new constructions: Greeley West High School and Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering.

Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering

We installed over 280 Reliable Controls products at Greeley West. Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering included over 150 RC installed devices.

These projects included hundreds of hours of pulling wire, installing temperature sensors, programming controllers and creating graphics. We could not have done it without every single member on our dedicated and hard-working team. Thank you to the Weld County School District for these opportunities!

S. Christa McAuliffe S.T.E.M. Academy

We were also able to participate in some retrofitting of existing schools with updated controls system.

S. Christa McAuliffe S.T.E.M. Academy was a partial retrofit, partial new construction that we completed in 2021 where we installed new unit ventilators in many classroms and new RTUs in common spaces.

Brentwood Middle School

Brentwood Middle School was a retrofit we were also able to complete with updated equipment as well as updated programming and graphics.

Greeley Central High School

Greeley Central High School underwent extensive demolition and reconstruction in the summer or 2023, retrofitting it to better serve the students who attend the historic castle-like high school. The phase we were a part of included installation and programming of a new Air Handling Unit and 2 Cabinet Unit Heaters. We also provided them with 6 pages of overhauled floor plans with color changing animations to represent zone temps compared to setpoints for each supply air zone.

It's an honor to be able to outfit the inner workings of such a historic building with the most recent technology in building automation, while simultaneously maintaining the integrity and aesthetic that made it so special when it was originally built, a century ago.

Prairie Heights Middle School

Colorado Controls has been fortunate to do multiple retrofit jobs for Weld County School District 6, and this time we were hired on to bring more innovative updates to the fairly new  Prairie Heights Middle School in Greely, CO.

The PHMS update was designed from start to finish to be an efficient and sustainably run institution. Starting with the most up to date and cutting edge software and hardware to the sleek finishing touches on graphical read outs for the building manger, PHMS was a project where every member of our team shined.

We created and installed 10 pages of detailed floor plans that house animations to accurately report to maintenance staff how close all supplied zones are to setpoints. We programmed and installed 89 Variable Air Volume units, 6 Fan Coil Units, and a robust Radiant Heating Floor Panel system throughout the building.

Prairie Heights Middle School proudly wears a LEED for Schools certification and we are likewise proud to have been a component in helping them achieve and maintain that prestigious credential.

Billie Martinez Elementary School (WCSD6)

Billie Martinez Elementary School in Greeley, CO was another school in the Weld County School District 6 widespread retrofit plan. Over the course of multiple phases we worked to bring them updated floor plan graphics to accurately represent the addition of a number of classrooms as well as any construction changes made over the summer break. When it comes to HVAC equipment we installed, programmed, and curated graphics for 11 Variable Air Volume units, 4 Boilers, 3 Fan Coil Units, 1 Rooftop Unit, and multiple fans and single space heaters. These changes and additions were made with careful consideration for student and staff comfort level while also balancing an over-arching sustainable energy plan.

Meeker Elementary School (WCSD6)

Meeker Elementary School in Greeley, CO received a brand new addition with many new classrooms and various utility rooms. Accompanying the new South addition was updated versions of floor plans for the existing East and West sections. New equipment installed included 14 Variable Air Volume units, 2 Rooftop Units, a boiler system, and multiple exhaust fans and unit heaters. Updating the existing floor plans gives the facilities manager a more accurate and clean representation of the areas served by the installed heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment and allows them easy access to making appropriate changes throughout the year and during occupancy changes.

Heath Middle School (WCSD6)

Another Weld County School District 6 project we have had the privilege to work on is Heath Middle School. Along with retrofitting the school with new graphics and more efficient programming we also took on outfitting an entirely new administration building with brand new controllers and updated floor plan graphics. Between the new and retrofitted old sections of the school we installed 13 Variable Air Volume units, 4 Vertical Unit Ventilators, 1 Air Handling Unit, 1 Rooftop Unit, a Domestic Water Heating system, 3 Fan Coil Units, 2 Split System Air Conditioning units, 5 Cabinet Unit Heaters, 1 Unit Heater, 5 Exhaust Fans, and we also added a Boiler to their already existing system. On top of this extensive revamping we modified and updated all existing floor plan graphics to reflect any changes made during construction. These floor plans among our other WCSD6 jobs are equipped with a color changing animation that lets the building managers monitor all supplied zones and ensure that all setpoints are being met for optimal comfort levels.

Northridge High School (WCSD6)

Northridge High School in Greeley, CO was a retrofit job where a section of the school was being demolished and remodeled to better fit the needs of the students while also ensuring maximum comfort levels and energy efficiency. Colorado Controls installed and programmed 1 Air Handling Unit, 1 Make Up Air Unit, a system of Air Cooled Chillers, and 14 Variable Air Volume units. Along with these additions we outfitted their brand new culinary arts classrooms with the necessary exhaust fans and hoods for the kitchen area and commercial dishwasher. To keep the entry ways of this area temperate and held to an efficient standard we programmed 2 Cabinet Unit Heaters and 2 Destratification Fans as well. To tie this job together our Graphics Technicians updated the entire school floor plans to reflect changes made during reconstruction and to display room temperatures and set cooling/heating setpoints.

Thank you for all of your business Weld County School District!
